Marquetry & Blooms - The Greetery

The new District Twelve 25 release from The Greetery certainly has the creative wheels spinning, and today I used Week 1 & 2 releases to create this marquetry and floral-inspired card.

I think the basket is my favourite. The embossing folder creates so much texture and detail, it's just beautiful!

I started by die cutting and embossing the basket. I used some old Core'dinations cardstock in beige that had been whitewashed, which meant I could lightly sand the basket to reveal the colour underneath for a more realistic look.

I die cut and inked my flowers and greenery and stuck them to the back of the basket, I dithered for quite a while on the placement, as usual!

To create the marquetry-style details, inspired by traditional wood inlay designs, I used the Capsule Quilt Shop stencils and die on Concord & 9th Peanut cardstock and inks in varying brown shades. As I don’t yet have the coordinating embossing folder, I ran all the pieces through the Sizzix 3-D Texture Fades Embossing Folder - Lumber by Tim Holtz to add some woodgrain detail.

I popped all the pieces up using foam tape and finished the basket with a sweet Regency No. 1 bow and a cute tag from the new Teeny Tags stamp and die set.

I am so pleased with how it turned out and plan on gifting it to my mother-in-law for her birthday in December. Hopefully she'll love it as much as I do! Have a super Sunday!
