52 Cards challenge 2014 - Week 25

I'm running a little bit behind with last week's 52 cards challenge "Whatever the weather", I did make this a few days ago but have been so busy with work and the weather has not been good enough to take photos so I have only just gotten round to taking them.

Patterned paper - Echo Park. Vellum - Anita's. Sentiment - Papertrey Ink.
Cloud cut file #18294, Sun cut file #17341

I already had this card in mind a couple of days before as I was itching to use my new paper smooches rainbow die.

I cut the rainbow shape six times from card stock scraps and arranged them into rainbows, I assembled one on the front of a die cut journaling card from Lawn Fawn and layered the card over a glittered sun from the Silhouette store, the clouds were also cut from vellum on my silhouette using the Echo Park cloud cut file that matches the background paper, I simply duplicated the image, made one slightly smaller and changed the cut line to dotted lines and it mimics stitched clouds.

The sentiment was stamped with an ancient rainbow pigment pad I found in my stash using the PTI Up, Up and Away sentiment set which was then embossed with clear embossing powder on vellum which was overlaid on card. Oh! I forgot to mention that I sewed a little border on the edge of my card stock and went over the printed raindrops with glossy accents. It really is a cheerful card :)

One last thing I thought I would share is a picture I found from a couple of weeks ago of some more crafty goodies I purchased, i'm such a naughty girl!

I have wanted the dainty bow dies for such a long time as well as the Lawn Fawn Let's Polka 6x6 pad, those yummy neon Freckled Fawn enameled dots and how sparkly are those Prima embellishments? I hope I have some time this week for some serious crafting.

Lastly, I created this card from the scraps and pieces I had on my desk from this card.

Happy hump day everyone x

Make The Day Special Challenge

Have you heard of the UK store Make The Day Special? They specialise in importing US stamp brands to the UK, Europe and Worldwide! The best part? The prices are comparable with buying direct but no nasty customs charges.

Here's a sneaky peek at my new goodies that I received this week, now if only I had some time this week to play with them!

Anyway, MTDS has a monthly challenge and here is my entry.

I'd love to sit and write more but I am exhausted after starting my new job this week and need my bed! This card was made with the new Mama Elephant Sweet Havana Stamps and Paper Smooches Friend die.

**All opinions contained within this post are my own and I am not affiliated with MTDS in any way, I am just thrilled to share a great way to buy my favourite US stamp brands:)

Celebrating Father's Day

When it comes to paper crafting I think my dad gets the rough end of the deal, I love creating girly things for my mum, but my dad? not so much. He's a simple kinda guy so I need to make sure the card is special but not at all 'frilly'. Here's what I have come up with this year;

Card base - Papermania. Patterned paper - October Afternoon. Font - Ostrich
Sans. Sketch Pens - Silhouette America. Heart - K&Co.

I had seen the quote on pinterest and loved it and decided to use it as the focal point of the card. I am not a fan of my own handwriting so I used the ostrich sans font and my sketch pens and had my silhouette do all the work. I then overlaid this with vellum and added the die cut gold 'Dad' and finished it off with a little puffy heart sticker.

I'm an only child and was/am very much a daddy's girl (well, I'm also mummy's girl too!) and I hope this conveys to him just how much I love him.

 I also show my Father-In-Law the love and made him this card;

Cardstock - Bazzill. Patterned paper - Mint Julep, Basic Grey. Vellum -
Dear Lizzie. Glitter Paper - American Crafts. Dies - Wplus9. Lawn Fawn and My
Favourite Things. Stamps - Milos ABC's, Lawn Fawn. Sequins - Doodlebug.

I have had the shaped sequins since I started crafting in 2006 and was happy to find a use for them, I stitched them within the vellum pocket, I just adore shaker elements! The flags were made from scraps and the sentiment was stamped with staz-on, I now realise I should have embossed it in blue to make it stand out a little bit more.

The card below was made as I had been wanting to make a card using my new lawn fawn journaling card die with gold mirror card stock, it has such a luxury look to it.

Patterned paper - DIY Shop, Crate Paper. Leaves cut file #9075 Silhouette
America. Card stock - Bazzill Cardshoppe, Papertrey Ink. Stamp - Papermania.
Dies - Lawn Fawn. Washi tape - Freckled Fawn. Glitter paper and embossing
powder - American Crafts.

I'm really pleased with how this came out, I wish I would have used a brighter green for the leaves and I think I should have introduced a pop of colour such as red to add some interest. It will be nice to have this stashed away for giving later this year ;)

Thanks for reading!

Shine Bright! Diamond filled shaker card.

Ok, maybe they aren't real diamonds but I can't stop shaking this card and staring at the different colours in the light!

Card base and chalkboard label - American Crafts. Holographic
and Honeycomb silver card - Payper Box. Vellum - Anita's.
Sentiment - Wplus9. Ink - Versafine. Crystals - Floral supply.

This isn't a new card, but was one of the last ones I made before my crafting drought. I have only just got round to photographing it's different colours in the sunlight, for that reason there are a few pics with this post!

It was quite easy to make. Cut a rectangle of holographic card stock and adhere to your card base.

Take a chalkboard tag and die cut a square in the centre, adhere a square of acetate to the back of the frame, on the inside edge stick foam pads all along the frame making sure there are no gaps.

*Tip - 'dust' the edges of your foam tape where it would come into
contact with the shaker contents, it will stop them sticking.

Add your shaker contents, remove the backing from the foam pads and stick down a square of silver card stock that slightly overlaps the foam pads, adhere shaker to card.

Die cut banner from vellum and stamp sentiment, emboss with clear embossing powder and adhere to shaker.

My crafting drought may finally be over! I have made 4 cards in the last 2 days including my Father's Day cards which I hope to share tomorrow morning, I just need to make the most of the sunlight for my photographs!
